Basic information

The industrial park in Michalovce, in Eastern Slovakia, has emerged on the basis of the idea to create a suitable environment and attractive conditions for future investment. One of the first investors having shown the interest in its premises was the German company Gronbach, a supplier of components for the production of white technology. They perform business in Slovakia through their daughter company Michatek.

Since the industrial park is situated in the vacant area of the city, it appeared necessary to prepare in the first stage the area of the construction planned. The construction proper had been preceded by the removal of mould soil, followed by the excavation of foundation pits, and precise tracing of all the engineering civils.

The industrial hall Michatek is a separately standing two-storey object consisting of the administrative and production parts. Officers, visitors rooms, laboratory, and hygienic premises are situated on the first floor of the administration building. The economic department, canteen for the employees, cloakrooms and washing premises are situated on the second floor. The production part consists of a single-storey two-nave large-scale hall.

The building is of a rectangular shape with a saddle roof. The dominant materials are thermo-insulation sandwich panels Kingspan employed in the building façade and for roofing the building, where they are placed under the angle of 6o. the object of the production hall consists of the ferro-concrete frame-like structure. The roof structures in the administration part are built of filigrane plates of concrete joined with the floor. The internal disposition is made of porous concrete walling. The light window openings of atypical dimensions create an interesting impression, and also the lighting through the roof cover by means of lighting panels. The entire building has been designed without basement.

The overall built-up area of the plant amounts to 3 780 square metres.
