Basic information

The project "Prešov - Drinking water and sewage in the river Torysa" belongs to one of the major civil engineering works. It is the largest water supply project in the east of Slovakia, which solves the drinking water supply expansion and reconstruction of water mains and extension of group water mains. It also includes construction of a new sewerage system and wastewater treatment in Prešov, Sabinov and Košice districts.

The project includes 34 municipalities in Prešov County and four municipalities in Košice County. By the end of 2009, should be built 69 buildings, about 300 km of water supply sewerage systems, 17 water supply pumping stations, 18 reservoirs, 22 sewage pumping stations and reconstruction passes five wastewater treatment plants will pass the reconstruction.  The project will be built on 80 km long route.

Looking ahead to 2011, when the local connections to the water mains would be implemented, nearly 25 000 thousand inhabitants will connect to water supply and over 19,000 people Torysa basin will connect to sewerage.
